Eight teachers in grades prek-12 are participating in the 1 to 1 Tablet Initiative. The teachers that volunteered for the program, are highly motivated, energetic, and committed to integrating technology not simply into the curriculum, but to change teaching through the use of technology. These forward thinking teachers began the selection process in early January comparing several different models and weighing the benefits of each. Ultimately they all landed on the Asus Transformer. Testing showed this tablet to be extremely versatile, with the docking keyboard and the combination of speed and power, Android Marketplace this tablet hints at possibilities for students that will prepare them for the world of tomorrow. Over the next several months the teaching staff will be attending professional development and using these tablets alongside their regular curriculum, working together to find ways not simply to integrate the technology, but to discover new ways of teaching and inspire new ways for student s to think about learning. Phase II, distribution to the students will occur in the fall of 2012 when an estimated 200 students will begin to adapt their learning with this technology.
