Important Updates to Student Drop-Off, Pick-Up, and Building Safety

Dear Vestaburg Community School Families,

To enhance the safety and security of our students and staff, we are implementing a few important changes to our morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up procedures for the upcoming school year. Please review the details below carefully.

Change #1: New Car Drop-Off & Pick-Up Line

We are introducing a centralized drop-off and pick-up line for all PK–12 grade students who travel to and from school by car.

Logistics & Arrival:

Line Location: The line will form in the loop on the south side of the school. To join the line easily, please approach heading north on Avenue B.

Drop-Off Time: Vehicles may begin releasing students at 7:48 AM. For safety reasons, no students should exit their vehicles prior to 7:48 AM.

Staffed Drop-Off Zone: For the safety of all children, students must remain in their vehicles until they reach the designated, cone-marked drop-off zone where staff members are present. Please do not allow students to exit early along the line.

Universal Line: All students being dropped off or picked up by car must use this line.

Pick-up Time: Due to recess cars will be able to begin forming a pick up line no earlier than 2:20 PM.

Change #2: Limited Building Access Before & After School.

Monitoring entry and exit points during the busiest times of the day is critical to keeping our building secure. We are updating visitor access during arrival and dismissal:

Walking Students In (Morning): If you choose to park and walk your child into the school, you may accompany them as far as the main office (unless you have a pre-scheduled appointment with a staff member).

First Days of School Exception: Parents are welcome to walk their children directly to their classrooms during the first three days of school. Beginning Monday, August 24, 2026, all morning goodbyes must take place in the office.

Picking Up Inside (Afternoon): Parents picking up inside the building must wait in the main office, where a staff member will bring your child to you.

Volunteering & Events: We continue to welcome parents into the building for pre-arranged volunteer opportunities, special events, and scheduled activities.

Change #3: Front Door Schedule

The front doors of the school will remain locked until 7:50 AM each morning.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: Do I need to call the school if someone else is picking up my child?

A: No, as long as the driver has one of your official vehicle tags clearly displayed in their window.

Q: What happens if someone comes to pick up my child without a vehicle tag?

A: For your child's safety, drivers without a tag will be asked to wait until dismissal finishes and an administrator becomes available to verify their identity and authorization before releasing the student.

Q: Can I get extra vehicle tags for relatives or caregivers who help with pick-up?

A: Yes! You may request multiple vehicle tags during registration so every authorized driver has one.

Q: Do I need to register if I only plan to use morning drop-off?

A: Registration is not required for drop-off only. However, we strongly encourage you to fill out a form just in case you ever need to use the pick-up line unexpectedly during the year.

Paperwork Burden Reduction Act

The Paperwork Burden Reduction Act dictates that reporting entities are no longer required to send Forms 1095-B and 1095-C to covered individuals and full-time employees unless a form is requested.

To the students, families, and community of Vestaburg,

The start of a new school year always brings a special kind of energy, and I am incredibly excited to welcome everyone back for what promises to be a remarkable year of learning and growth. I hope you've all had a restful and rejuvenating summer break.

As we embark on this new journey together, our district's theme for the year is "Cross the Line." I'm sure many of you, whether you've played sports or cheered from the sidelines, have heard a coach demand that players "touch the line." It's a call for effort and precision—to not take shortcuts and to go beyond what is expected.

This year, however, we want to go beyond that. We're challenging ourselves not just to touch the line, but to run right through it and Cross the Line. This is a call to action for all of us—students, teachers, staff, and families—to push past our comfort zones, to exceed expectations, and to achieve things we might not have thought possible. It means embracing new challenges, exploring innovative ideas, and dedicating ourselves to excellence in every aspect of our work as individuals, team members, and a community.

We have an amazing year planned, and I am confident that by working together, we will not only meet our goals but truly Cross the Line in our pursuit of providing the best possible education for every student. We ARE Vestaburg!!
